What is the Tech Radar? The Runtastic Tech Radar is a list of technologies, complemented by an assessment result, called ring assignment. We use four rings with the following semantics:

What is the purpose? The Tech Radar is a tool to inspire and support engineering teams at Runtastic to pick the best technologies for new projects; it provides a platform to share knowledge and experience in technologies, to reflect on technology decisions and continuously evolve our technology landscape. Based on the Zalando Tech Radar which follows the pioneering work of ThoughtWorks, our Tech Radar sets out the changes in technologies that are interesting in software development — changes that we think our engineering teams should pay attention to and consider using in their projects. How do we maintain it?The Tech Radar is maintained by the Runtastic Architecture Guild. The Tech Radar depends on active participation and input from our entire tech organization. The architecture team drives revisiting the Tech Radar twice a year, actively asking for feedback around potential updates. Besides that please use the #ask-the-architects slack channel for discussions and information about new technology adoption. Please also refer to the Tech Radar Insights documentation for detailed information on some of the technologies. BTW, if you would like to create your own Tech Radar — Zalando has open sourced the code to generate this visualization. ¹ internal tooling ² used for automation |
